For my very first engagement shoot, I couldn't have been luckier than with a couple like Hermione and Serhan. The two have been dating for two years and had only been engaged for two weeks when I took their photos.
We met in San Francisco and visited the Bay Bridge, Transamerica Pyramid and Golden Gate Bridge. From the first photo I snapped, I already knew how fun and easy the day was going to be. With almost no direction from me, Hermione and Serhan began embracing each other slowly and kissing. All I had to do was capture those moments.
They were so comfortable and relaxed with each other and totally open to trying anything I suggested as the afternoon faded into sunset.
It's no surprise that these two, especially Hermione, would be totally comfortable in front of the camera. Hermione has done plenty of photo and video work before, and was on the Bravo television show Start-ups: Silicon Valley.
When the shoot was over, we went to dinner in Hayes Valley where we were joined by my friend Mauricio Arias of Chrisman Studios and two of Hermione's girlfriends. We talked about Mauricio's recent visit to Nicaragua while Hermione and Serhan gave us details of their wedding this July in Serhan's home city of Istanbul.
When we were about to call it a night, Mauricio and I decided to get the couple outside together for just a few more photos. That's when we ended up getting Hermione and Serhan to stop traffic and make out next to a woman sitting in a MUNI bus stop.
It was so much fun spending time with Hermione and Serhan running around San Francisco, and I just want to say thanks to both of you for making my first engagement shoot seem easy and fun!
