TechCrunch Disrupt in New York City this year was a blast. Well, the after parties were probably more fun than the day sessions, but that's expected when the liquor starts flowing and tech geeks start to cut loose.
During the first night, attendees were a little stiff and uncomfortable with each other. But by the second night, everyone started to slacken up a little and danced the night away!
The after party for the second night was held at Hudson Terrace in New York City, and DJ Kevvy Kev made sure everyone had some sweet beats to dance to.
Everyone was so incredibly friendly and full of life. TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco is happening within the next few weeks, and I'm looking forward to the same fun, but in venues and clubs I've never been to before.
Event photography challenge
Photographing this particular party was challenging because it was incredibly dark in the venue. Couple that very dim lighting with fast paced dancing and action, and it'll give any photographer a bit of a challenge. An on-camera flash and constant focusing definitely helped me get through the night.
One TechCrunch employee gave me a huge compliment the day after this party. She said, "When I saw you taking pictures in that dark room, I was wondering what on earth you were doing! I said, 'There is no way those photos are going to turn out, let alone be in focus!' But I saw them the next day and I was amazed."
Luckily, these photos were noticed by gdgt and I've been photographing events for them ever since. In fact, I'll be in Seattle at the end of August shooting another one of their events.
If you're reading this and you're going to be at the TechCrunch Disrupt after parties, don't be shy when you see me! Definitely come and say hello and we'll take some pictures together!
